We offer counseling for anxiety, stress, depression, trauma, PTSD, couples (including premarital), families, weight loss, bipolar, dissociation, life transitions, ADHD, behavioral issues, and much more. We have offices located in Denver, North Carolina but also provide virtual counseling to anyone in North Carolina. We now offer mental health counseling in both English and Spanish too!

We provide counseling for ages 5 and up. This includes individuals, couples, and families. We understand that people live in constant interaction with others and work to facilitate an environment where clients can feel comfortable bringing in their loved ones as needed.

Yes! We now offer counseling both virtually and in-person for children 5 and up! We also offer a free consultation for children to meet with counselor before their first session, if desired, to see if they are a good fit!

We are very focused on giving our clients skills that you can not only use now for your current concerns, but throughout your entire life, so that you do not need counseling for the same things again. In order to do this, we use a combination of approaches including CBT, DBT, EMDR, Prepare/Enrich, spiritual integration, and more. Sessions typically last 50-55 minutes. Longer sessions, sometimes called “intensives,” are available as well. However, unfortunately, insurance will not cover them.

We have found that meeting weekly improve clients’ progress toward their goals. For that reason, we meet with clients weekly. We will establish a set to time to meet each week, and that will be our reoccurring weekly appointment. Once you meet most of your goals, we then may discuss meeting every other week or monthly until “graduation”.

There are many factors that are specific to each client that determine the length of counseling. So, it is hard to predict until we begin working with each other. In most cases, clients commit to counseling for 3-6 months, and we check in monthly to measure progress.

When you begin counseling, we believe you deserve and need long-term changes in your life, not just band-aid fixes. This takes work and commitment. Clients who take counseling seriously and invest the time tend to make more progress and see changes quicker. Also, since our model is to equip you so that you do not need us, this commitment and work is something that will carry through the rest of your life, and help you to equip others. This prevents relapses that would cause you to have to “restart.”

Yes! We have multiple options that allow clients to get the same benefits from EMDR regardless of whether they are in person or meeting virtually!

In our first session, the goal is to get some history and help establish goals for therapy. Sometimes, this extends into the second session, especially in the case of couples or family counseling. Then, each session your counselor will have a plan for skills to teach you or use that will be directed by your goals. We will also discuss situations that are important to you each session.

Yes, we do. This is an important part of the counseling process because change is not something that can happen in one hour each week. Instead, it takes work in between session. Clients who take counseling seriously and actually do their homework have been found to make more progress quicker than those who do not.

Counseling can result in a number of benefits, including, but not limited to, decreases in emotional distress, increased ability to cope, decreases in negative thoughts and self-sabotaging behaviors, improved interpersonal relationships, an increase in self-confidence, and increased comfort in settings that initially caused emotional discomfort.

At this time, we are contracted with most Blue Cross Blue Shield plans, Cigna Behavioral Health, Aetna, and United Health Care directly. For anyone who utilizes another insurance, we do offer something called a Superbill. This is a form you can submit to your insurance company for reimbursement using your Out-of-Network benefits. Make sure you contact your insurance carrier to better understand their process and eligibility for this.

Our cash rate for a 55-minute counseling session for individuals is $150. Couples sessions are $175. If billing insurance, your rate will be based on your insurance policy’s terms and conditions. We accept HSA, FSA, and all major credit cards.

We have a 24 hour cancellation policy. So, any cancellations prior to 24 hours can be made on our online portal, phone call, text, or email. If you are sick, please let us know as soon as possible, so we can decide how to proceed. We also offer phone and virtual sessions in case something happens last minute that prevents you from coming to your appointment. If you cancel with less than 24 hours notice, we do charge a late cancel fee.

In most cases, clients start to feel better within the first two or three sessions. We use evidence-based practices to make counseling as effective as possible. However, when we do our check in each month, if you do not feel like you are making improvement, we will discuss options to change up our approach and make sure we are focusing on the goals that are important to you. Once we have changed things up, if you still do not feel like you are making progress, we will discuss the option to referring you out to another therapist that may be a better fit.
